Optical Brightener OB is a plastic whitening agent used for its unique chemical properties to add brightness to an array of materials. It is solvent soluble, heat resistant, and chemically stable for use in polymers like polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, polystyrene, acrylics, polyester and nylon. Its use offsets the natural yellowness of polymers and yields a whiter appearance. This product is particularly useful in the production of plastics and synthetic fibers, because of its distinct melting point, it can be easily used in processes which require heating and melting. OB’s signature feature is dispersion. This creates better stability and less exudation (bleed) in the application and leads to long-lasting whitening effects. OB has better dispersibility than its counterpart OB-1 (which has a higher melting point) leading to its benefits within specific productions, especially ink coatings and plastics that do not require the highest temperatures.
